Notorious robber killed by accomplices’ firing in police encounter

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th May, 2026) A notorious robber was killed by firing of his own accomplices during an alleged police encounter in the area of Saddar Samundri police station.

Police spokesman said here on Sunday that the deceased robber was identified as Gulfam, who was involved in 21 cases of robbery and theft and was considered a symbol of fear in the area.

Giving some details, he said that four armed suspects were returning after committing a crime near Chak No.441-GB Pull Mahalam when Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Hasnain along with his team was conducting snap-checking in the area.

The police signaled the suspects to stop on suspicion, but the accused opened indiscriminate fire on police party instead of surrendering, the spokesman added.

He said that on receiving information, SHO Saddar Samundri police station Muhammad Adnan rushed to the spot along with additional force while the armed suspects continued blunt firing on the police party.

The police retaliated in self-defense and after the exchange of fire stopped, the police searched the area and found one suspect lying critically injured, who had reportedly been hit by bullets fired by his own accomplices during the encounter.

The police recovered a snatched motorcycle, a mobile phone and illicit weapons from the possession of the injured accused.

The injured suspect was shifted to hospital for medical treatment but he in vain as he succumbed to the injuries during treatment, the police spokesman said.

A search operation and blockade had been launched across the area for arrest of the escapees and they would be apprehended soon, he added.
