MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Mar, 2026) A notorious robber with a previous criminal record of more than 50 incidents of theft and robbery was arrested in an injured condition after a police encounter near Sabzi Mandi in the jurisdiction of Shah Rukn-e-Alam Police Station late Tuesday night.

According to police sources, a police team was conducting routine patrolling, crime checking and snap checking at a picket near Sabzi Mandi when two suspects riding a motorcycle approached from the direction of Noubahar Canal. When the police signaled them to stop on suspicion, both suspects dismounted from the motorcycle and opened straight fire on the police party.

The police personnel took cover behind their vehicle and on the ground and, in self-defense, resorted to limited aerial firing. After the firing stopped, the police moved forward and found that one of the suspects had been hit in the right leg by the firing of his own accomplice and had fallen to the ground in an injured condition.

A pistol was taken into police custody.

During initial interrogation, the injured suspect identified himself as Abdullah s/o Aslam, a resident near Metro Station Ahmed Abad, Multan. His accomplice managed to escape from the scene while firing, taking advantage of the darkness.

Police immediately informed senior officers and a search operation with snap checking was launched through the control room to arrest the fleeing suspect.

The injured accused was shifted to Nishtar Hospital Multan by Rescue 1122 for medical treatment.

Police said that the motorcycle recovered from the suspect was checked and found to be stolen in case FIR No. 468/21 under section 381-A PPC registered at Shah Rukn-e-Alam Police Station.
