SUKKUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Feb, 2026) Under the Sindh government’s ongoing “Nijat Mehran” operation, a wanted bandit involved in multiple heinous crimes including murder, terrorism, robbery, and police encounters has surrendered to authorities, marking a major breakthrough for law enforcement.
According to a release on Tuesday, the surrender was made possible through the effective and courageous leadership of DIG Larkana/Sukkur Range, Nasir Aftab, whose strategic command has accelerated the operation against dacoits in the riverine (katcha) areas. The joint operation, involving Larkana/Sukkur Range Police, Federal Civil Intelligence Agency, and Sindh Rangers, has been pressuring criminal elements to either surrender or face decisive action.
One of the most wanted criminals, identified as Shoukat s/o Budha Selro, resident of Katcha area Ronti, turned himself in to Ghotki Police.
Shoukat Selro, known as a symbol of terror in the region, was wanted in several high-profile cases and was the main accused in the attack on Sardar Shehryar Khan Shar, which resulted in the death of Ali Muhammad Shar.
After surrendering, the dacoit announced his repentance from a life of crime and appealed to his accomplices to lay down their arms and surrender to authorities. Police officials stated that his criminal record is being compiled and further verification is underway.
DIG Nasir Aftab emphasized that the “Nijat Mehran” operation will continue until all dacoits are eliminated and complete peace is restored in the katcha areas. We are determined to protect the lives and property of citizens, eradicate crime, and ensure lasting peace in the region, he added.
