FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Jun, 2026) Divisional Commissioner Musarrat Jabeen has directed district and police authorities to leave no gap in security arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram and said that foolproof, vigilant and coordinated measures would be ensured to maintain peace and harmony throughout the sacred month.
She along with Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sohail Akhtar Sukhaira visited Jhang district to review Muharram arrangements and held a meeting with members of District Peace Committee at Deputy Commissioner's Office.
Deputy Commissioner Jhang Ali Akbar Bhinder, District Police Officer (DPO) Sajid Hussain, administrative officers and representatives of the peace committee attended the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, the Divisional Commissioner praised the role of peace committee members in maintaining communal harmony and law & order in the district.
She said that the district administration had finalized comprehensive arrangements for all mourning processions and religious gatherings while the issues highlighted by religious scholars and peace committee members had already been resolved.
She said that close coordination with Ulema and community leaders would continue. She urged them to use the pulpit and platform to promote the messages of unity, tolerance, equality and brotherhood.
She expressed confidence that collective efforts by the administration, police, religious scholars and peace committees would ensure the peaceful observance of Muharram.
The Divisional Commissioner directed Assistant Commissioners and other field officers to further strengthen administrative and security measures after reviewing all arrangements made ahead of Muharram.
Later, a special prayer was also offered for peace and stability in the region.
Meanwhile, the Divisional Commissioner Madam Musarrat Jabeen held another meeting with district administration officials and stressed that even the slightest security lapse would be unacceptable.
She ordered that control rooms should remain operational round the clock until Youm-e-Ashur and responsible staff should remain present at all times.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>She instructed the officials to ensure effective monitoring of all sensitive locations and directed the Health Department, Rescue 1122, Municipal Committee and other relevant agencies to remain on high alert.
She said that all departments should remain ahead of mourning processions to closely monitor arrangements and immediately address any shortcomings.
She also directed Punjab food Authority teams to remain active for inspection of drinking water stalls (Sabeels) established along procession routes to ensure public health standards.
Later, the Divisional Commissioner, RPO, Deputy Commissioner and DPO, accompanied by peace committee members, visited routes of central Muharram procession and reviewed security and civic arrangements.
They instructed the officials to ensure rooftop security deployment, comprehensive checking of participants in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and full functionality of all security equipment including walk-through gates.
They also inspected cleanliness measures, road patchwork, removal of encroachments and wall chalking, street lighting arrangements and other civic facilities along the procession routes.
The Divisional Commissioner directed Sui Gas and FESCO authorities to inspect their installations and provide clearance certificates to eliminate any potential hazards.
She also met organizers of mourning processions and inquired about administrative and policing arrangements, assuring them that the authorities would not allow any relaxation in security measures at any stage of Muharram.
She urged all officers and staff assigned duty to fully realize their responsibilities and maintain close coordination to ensure best possible arrangements for the mourners.
Earlier, Madam Musarrat Jabeen accompanied by the RPO visited Police Lines Jhang and laid floral wreaths at the Martyrs' Memorial.
A smart police contingent presented a salute in honor of the martyr officers.
She also directed the Deputy Commissioner Jhang to immediately replace damaged tiles at the memorial site.
