MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Jun, 2026) The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) raided and arrested a Nikah registrar red-handed while accepting a bribe during a successful raid conducted in Lodhran on Friday.

According to official sources, the raid was conducted under the supervision of Regional Director Anti-Corruption Multan, Basharat Nabi. The operation was led by Circle Officer Lodhran, Inspector Syed Ali Hassan Gillani, along with his team, in the presence of Section 30 Magistrate Lodhran, Ijaz Ahmad.

The accused, Muhammad Umar Farooq, serving as a Nikah Registrar, demanded Rs40,000 from a citizen for the registration of a marriage and issuance of a marriage certificate. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect had already received Rs10,000 through jazzcash and was apprehended while receiving the remaining Rs25,000.

The anti-corruption team recovered the marked currency notes from his possession.

The suspect was immediately taken into custody, while legal proceedings launched.
