New machinery added to WASA fleet to strengthen monsoon preparedness

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Feb, 2026) Managing Director (MD) Water & Sanitation Agency (WASA) Saqib Raza announced induction of new machinery and vehicles into WASA fleet to enhance drainage operations ahead of the upcoming monsoon season in Faisalabad.

He said that WASA had included two dump trucks, two combined jetting and suction vehicles and desilting machines in its operational fleet, which would play a key role in improving sewerage and storm-water management across the city.

The inclusion of these vehicles would significantly boost WASA’s operational efficiency and provide much-needed relief to the citizens, he added.

MD WASA further said that final phase of cleaning main trunk sewer lines, major drainage channels and roadside drains had been launched and would be completed before the onset of rainy season.

The pre-monsoon drive would ensure uninterrupted and quality drainage services during heavy rains, he added.

He said that provision of efficient drainage facilities to the citizens is top priority of WASA and in this connection entire machinery would be made fully functional and operational before the start of monsoon.

He said that 20 new de-watering sets would reach Faisalabad by March 20 and would be deployed at identified ponding points to ensure prompt clearance of accumulated rainwater.

Proactive planning and timely execution of desilting and maintenance work would help minimize urban flooding risks and improve overall civic services during the monsoon season, he added.
