ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th May, 2026) Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry on Thursday informed the National Assembly that the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) was utilizing modern technology and advanced forecasting systems to minimize losses caused by floods, cloudbursts and other natural disasters across the country.
Responding to questions during the Question Hour, the minister said the government had already presented detailed reports on the floor of the House regarding relief and rescue efforts undertaken after recent floods and natural calamities.
He said NDMA had provided immediate assistance, including relief funds, medical facilities and emergency supplies to affected areas in coordination with district administrations.
Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said complete details regarding damages and relief measures had previously been shared with facts and figures and could again be provided to the concerned members if required.
The minister acknowledged that Provincial Disaster Management Authorities (PDMAs) might not possess technology comparable to NDMA, but emphasized that NDMA maintained close coordination with international institutions and received real-time disaster-related data and forecasts.
He said NDMA issued timely alerts and predictions regarding heavy rainfall, floods and cloudbursts to provincial authorities without delay.
The minister said early warning systems had helped save thousands of lives in various provinces by enabling authorities to shift vulnerable populations to safer locations before floods struck.

Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry informed the House that a parliamentary delegation led by the Speaker National Assembly had recently visited NDMA headquarters, where members were briefed on the authority’s state-of-the-art disaster monitoring system.
He said the modern system was connected with multiple satellites and provided the latest information and forecasting data to relevant authorities.
Responding to another supplementary question regarding parliamentary documents, the minister said the National Assembly Secretariat was working to reduce excessive printing and promote digitalization.
He said all ministries had already shifted towards e-filing systems to cut printing costs amounting to millions of rupees annually.
The minister informed the House that Speaker National Assembly had proposed introducing tablets for members so that agendas, questions and parliamentary documents could be uploaded digitally.
He said members would be able to access and download all documents electronically, reducing dependence on printed material while improving efficiency and accessibility.
