MAKKAH MUKARRAMAH, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th May, 2026) The recently launched digital platform ‘Discover Makkah’ by the Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites has significantly simplified navigation for thousands of Pakistani Hajj pilgrims currently in the Holy City.

Pilgrims arriving from Pakistan, particularly those visiting for the first time, have hailed the platform as a "comprehensive digital guide" for identifying routes to the Masjid al-Haram and various holy sites (Ziyarat).

Pakistani pilgrims, who often find the city's towering skyscrapers and expanding infrastructure challenging to navigate, are now using the platform’s ‘Smart Maps’ to independently monitor their commute from residential buildings to the Grand Mosque.

Speaking with APP, a pilgrim from Rawalpindi expressed his relief, stating that "Previously, we had to rely on private guides for Ziyarat. However, with 'Discover Makkah,' authentic information and precise directions to historic sites like Cave Hira and Cave Thawr are now available directly on our mobile phones.

Beyond navigation, the platform provides verified historical data regarding Makkah’s ancient landmarks. Pakistani pilgrims, known for their deep spiritual connection to Islamic history, are utilizing the app to learn the backgrounds of sacred sites they had previously only read about in books.

Officials from the Pakistan Hajj Mission (PHM) have also lauded the initiative, noting that it aligns with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 to enhance the pilgrimage experience. Officials highlighted that such digital interventions reduce the logistical pressure on the Hajj Mission, as pilgrims become more self-reliant in accessing essential information.

With a high percentage of Pakistani pilgrims now equipped with smartphones, the portal (discovermakkah.sa) has become a Primary tool for trip planning. According to the Royal Commission, the platform aims to centralize reliable information, ensuring that visitors do not have to rely on unverified sources or waste time during their spiritual journey.
