LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Feb, 2026) National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has said the government is implementing practical measures to reduce inflation, boost exports, and provide public relief.
Addressing a ceremony in his constituency, NA-120, here on Sunday, he said development initiatives for public welfare were being expedited under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
"Large-scale development projects worth billions of rupees in NA-120 will be completed by June 2026, transforming Lakhodair into a modern urban locality equipped with improved civic infrastructure," Ayaz Sadiq announced.
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said in line with the directives of the Government of Punjab, record development work is underway across the constituency with substantial financial allocations. He underscored that construction of 175 streets and completion of the sewerage system are in progress at a cost of Rs. 770 million, which will significantly enhance living standards in the area.
Speaker Ayaz Sadiq further noted that the adoption of an e-tendering process has resulted in savings of Rs. 200 million, which will also be utilised for local development initiatives. Overall, projects worth approximately Rs. 38 billion across NA-120 are scheduled for completion by June 2026.
He assured residents that no street or locality would be left out of the development process.
Commenting on national affairs, NA Speaker said that Pakistan is moving from economic challenges toward stability and strengthening its international relations. He reaffirmed that Pakistan seeks peace and cooperation but will respond decisively to any aggression, emphasizing that national security remains non-negotiable.
The speaker said the state and citizens stand united against terrorism and that firm action against elements spreading instability will continue. He also reiterated Pakistan’s call on Afghanistan to ensure that its territory is not used for terrorist activities against Pakistan.
The NA speaker said reports regarding the medical examination of the founder of PTI were unfounded, adding that all arrangements were conducted in accordance with legal procedures. He said the message of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi was conveyed in this regard, while the availability of a doctor was facilitated in consultation with Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and Asad Qaiser.
The speaker also announced that he would revisit the area after completion of the projects to ensure the provision of modern and high-quality civic facilities to residents.
