MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th May, 2026) Multan Waste Management Company (MWMC) finalized the cleanliness plan for Eid-ul-Azha, deploying over 9,000 workers and nearly 2,000 vehicles and machinery to maintain cleanliness across the city.
Addressing a press conference on Monday, Chief Executive Officer MWMC, Zulfiqar Ahmed, said the company had prepared a comprehensive operational plan to ensure the timely disposal of sacrificial animals' waste and keep the city clean throughout Eid holidays.
He said 30 awareness camps would be established across Multan city, while 15 camps each would be set up in Shujaabad and Jalalpur Pirwala to guide citizens regarding proper disposal of animals' remains. Special awareness desks would also be arranged in every union council.
The CEO said 30 temporary collection points for sacrificial animals' waste would be established with proper branding, tents, and sanitation arrangements. He added that sanitation staff would remain present at designated slaughter sites to distribute biodegradable waste bags among citizens for safe collection and disposal of animal offal.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Zulfiqar Ahmed said a 24-hour control room comprising 15 staff members would remain fully operational during Eid holidays to address public complaints promptly. Helpline numbers, WhatsApp services, and the Punjab government’s “Suthra Punjab” helpline 1139 would also remain active round the clock.
He further said the waste disposal operation would be carried out in two phases. Under the Primary collection system, waste would be collected directly from streets and towns while secondary teams would transfer the waste to temporary collection points before final disposal at dumping sites.
The CEO assured that any complaint received through the control room, WhatsApp service, or helpline would be resolved within two hours to ensure uninterrupted cleanliness arrangements across the city.
He added that temporary disposal sites would be disinfected regularly with lime sprinkling and special washing to eliminate foul smell and germs. He also confirmed that salaries of all workers had been paid in advance to ensure smooth and effective execution of the Eid cleanliness operation.
