Muzaffargarh police security arrangements for 8th Muharram

MUZAFFARGARH, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Jun, 2026) Muzaffargarh Police finalised comprehensive security arrangements across the district for observance of the 8th of Muharram, with more than 1,300 police officers and personnel deployed to ensure law and order.

According to police sources, a total of 79 mourning processions will be taken out across the district on the 8th of Muharram. Of these, 19 have been categorized as Category-A, 13 as Category-B and 47 as Category-C based on security requirements.

A total of 96 religious gatherings (Majalis) are also scheduled to be held in different parts of the district.

District Police Officer (DPO) Syed Ghazanfar Ali Shah is personally monitoring security arrangements by visiting the field and reviewing deployment plans. CCTV cameras installed at key locations have been linked with the Safe City Control Room for real-time surveillance.

A central control room has been activated round the clock with representatives of all relevant departments present to ensure coordination and rapid response.

Cyber patrolling is also being carried out to monitor social media platforms and prevent the spread of misinformation or hate content.

Police said that members of peace committees and religious leaders from different schools of thought are actively participating in interfaith harmony and peace-building initiatives during Muharram.

Security measures have been further strengthened at all entry and exit points of the district, while Elite Force personnel have been deployed at sensitive locations and major religious events. Traffic police have implemented a comprehensive traffic management plan to facilitate smooth movement, and personnel of the Highway and Patrolling Police have also been assigned security duties.

Law enforcement agencies are conducting joint search operations across the district to maintain a peaceful environment during Muharram.

DPO Syed Ghazanfar Ali Shah said that every police officer and official was performing duty with dedication and commitment to ensure the safety of mourners and maintain peace throughout the district.
