Muslims celebrate Eid in Hyderabad as day starts with over 1,200 congregations

HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Mar, 2026) The people of Hyderabad celebrated Eidul Fitr here on Saturday with religious fervour after offering Eid Namaz at more than 1,200 congregations which took place at Eidgahs, mosques and imambargahs in the city.

The largest congregation were organized at around 115 Eidgahs, mosques and Imambargahs with the biggest one at Eidgah behind Rani Bagh in Qasimabad.

Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, who offered Eid Namaz at the Rawal House, extended Eid greetings to the entire Muslim Ummah.

The spokesman of Hyderabad police Inspector Shahid Usman informed that 2,300 cops were deployed for security at the congregations in the entire city.

According to him, the teams of Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) searched all the main congregations. He said Senior Superintendent of Police Shahzeb Chachar on Friday had chaired a meeting, attended by all the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPOs) and Station House Officers, to minutely discuss all the security arrangements for the Eid holidays.

Usman added that the city's traffic management plan, deployment at the public places, recreational spots and markets were also discussed in detail in that meeting.

According to him, the SSP emphasized on the need to regulate traffic and to avoid traffic logjams in any part of the city.

He said the SSP also strictly directed the cops to take action against the car drivers and bike riders who indulged in rash driving and riding.

The cops were told to ensure visible deployment at all the places, markets, parks and other facilities which were likely to be flocked by a large number of the people.

The SSP also ordered a crackdown against elements selling liquour and narcotics.
