ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st May, 2026) Mushaal Hussein Mullick, wife of detained Hurriyat leader Yasin Malik, on Friday marked International Labour Day by calling on the global community to take urgent notice of the worsening condition of workers in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), urging concrete action to address the deepening economic and humanitarian crisis.

In her Labour Day message issued on May 1, she expressed solidarity with Kashmiri labourers, stating that the day symbolised not only recognition of workers’ rights worldwide but also a reminder of the suffering of those deprived of basic protections in conflict regions.

Ms Mullick said that Kashmiri workers are facing “severe oppression” and economic marginalisation, adding that ongoing conditions had pushed the labouring class into extreme hardship while stripping them of fundamental rights.

Emphasising the global significance of Labour Day, she urged international human rights organisations and world powers to step forward, become the voice of oppressed Kashmiri workers and ensure tangible measures for their relief and protection.

She said the occasion should serve as a renewed commitment by the international community to uphold the dignity, rights and welfare of Kashmiri labourers, who, she added, are enduring both economic deprivation and human rights challenges.

Calling for decisive international intervention, Ms Mullick warned that continued inaction would only exacerbate the crisis, and urged the world to play an active role in ending systemic injustices faced by workers in the region.
