RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Mar, 2026) The City Traffic Police Murree have launched a crackdown on public transport vehicles involved in overcharging

fares and overloading passengers ahead of Eidul Fitr holidays, Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Murree Imran Razzaq

said on Monday.

Acting on the directions of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Traffic Punjab Muhammad Waqas Nazir,

special squads of traffic wardens and officers have been constituted across the district to take action

against violators.

CTO Imran Razzaq said public service drivers must ensure the safety of passengers and strictly comply with

traffic laws, warning that strict legal action would be taken against those found violating regulations.

He said citizens could lodge complaints regarding overcharging or other traffic-related issues through the traffic

police helpline.

The CTO added that vehicles operating without valid route permits would be impounded for 72 hours, while

strict action would also be taken against those involved in overloading.

He said additional traffic personnel had been deployed to facilitate tourists and residents during the Eid

holidays, while a control room had been established at Sunny Bank to help resolve traffic issues.

The CTO urged motorists to follow the directions of traffic wardens and comply with road signs and traffic

rules to ensure a safe and smooth journey during the Eid holidays.
