Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has directed the Planning & Development (P&D), Works & Services, and Local Government departments to immediately restart construction work on the long-delayed Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Flyover in Hyderabad, warning officials that no further delays would be accepted.
Chairing a high-level meeting at the CM House, Murad Ali Shah instructed all concerned departments to ensure the project is completed by the first week of July 2026. He said he plans to personally inaugurate the flyover during his upcoming visit to Hyderabad.
“In July, I will visit Hyderabad and drive across the bridge myself to officially open it for traffic,” the chief minister said. “Therefore, ministers Nasir Hussain Shah, Jam Khan Shoro, and Haji Ali Hassan must work together to guarantee the timely completion of the project.”
The meeting was attended by senior provincial ministers, including Nasir Hussain Shah, Jam Khan Shoro, and Haji Ali Hassan Zardari, along with senior government officials and bureaucrats.
During the briefing, officials informed the chief minister that although the land acquisition process had been completed and possession handed over to project authorities in late 2018, construction work could not move forward due to legal disputes and other administrative complications.
The flyover project was originally part of a federally funded road scheme aimed at connecting the Hyderabad Bypass with Ghangra Mori on the left bank of Akram Wah. Authorities said major civil work has already been completed, including the casting of 24 bridge girders, but the overall structure remains unfinished.
Murad Ali Shah directed the Local Government, Works & Services, and Planning & Development departments to maintain close coordination and remove all obstacles delaying the project. “I will not tolerate any further delay in this important public project,” he stated.
Provincial Minister Haji Ali Hassan Zardari assured the chief minister that he would personally oversee the progress of the flyover and ensure its completion within the given deadline.
The chief minister emphasized that the Hyderabad flyover project is vital for reducing traffic congestion and improving road connectivity in the city.
He further instructed authorities to resolve all technical, financial, and administrative issues on a priority basis so the long-pending infrastructure project can finally be completed by July 2026.
