Muqam condemns Mardan Gurdwara killings, orders probe

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Jun, 2026) Federal Minister and President of Pakistan Muslim League (N), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Engineer Amir Muqam on Thursday strongly condemned the brutal killing of Gurdwara sevadar Jagan Nath and his wife, who were shot dead by unidentified assailants at Babu Mohalla Gurdwara in Mardan.

The incident, which occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Mardan district, has sent shockwaves through the Sikh community and raised serious concerns over the security of religious minorities.

Expressing deep sorrow, grief and concern over the tragedy, Amir Muqam directed the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to initiate a high level inquiry into the incident and constitute a special investigation committee to ensure a thorough and transparent probe.

The federal minister emphasized the need for immediate and enhanced security measures at minority places of worship across the province, urging authorities to strengthen protective arrangements to prevent such incidents in the future.

Describing the attack as a barbaric and terrorist act, Amir Muqam said such heinous crimes are intolerable and unforgivable.

He noted that the incident has created fear and anxiety among minority communities and stressed that those responsible must be arrested without delay and brought to justice under the full force of the law.

The minister also extended his heartfelt condolences to the Sikh community, assuring them that the government stands with them during this difficult time and remains committed to protecting the rights, safety and religious freedom of all citizens.
