ATTOCK, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Mar, 2026) The district police launched a mounted police unit to strengthen law enforcement and improve security, particularly in areas that are difficult to access by vehicles, the police officials said Wednesday.
District Police Officer (DPO) Mahran Khan inaugurated a newly established horse stable at the Police Lines, formally marking the unit’s operational launch.
The initiative aimed to enhance patrol coverage, deter crime and improve public safety. Trained mounted personnel would be deployed for patrol duties and at public events, the authorities said.
During the ceremony, Khan inspected the facility and reviewed arrangements for the horses’ care, including cleanliness, feeding and overall management. He instructed staff to ensure proper health, training and upkeep of the animals to support effective deployment.
The DPO said the mounted unit would improve surveillance in hard-to-reach areas and strengthen the district’s overall policing system.
