MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th May, 2026) In the villages and small towns of South Punjab, thousands of women quietly carry the weight of their

families on tired shoulders and hopeful hearts. They are not celebrities, politicians or business leaders,

yet they are among the strongest mothers in society because women who work in people’s homes

so their own children can dream of a better future.

Few years ago, many rural women earned income through cotton picking during the harvesting season.

The cotton fields of South Punjab once echoed with the voices of hardworking women who helped support

their households. But as cotton cultivation declined over the years, many of these women were forced

to search for other ways to survive.

Today, many of them work as domestic workers, cleaning houses, washing dishes, doing laundry and

caring for homes that are not their own. A woman earns around Rs 3,000 for basic cleaning in one house,

while cleaning, dishwashing and laundry together can bring Rs9,000 to Rs10,000 from a single household.

Some women work in three or four homes every day just to keep their children in school and food

on the table.

Among them is Samina Bibi, a mother who works in four different houses daily. Though her husband

also works, she believes education is the only path that can change her children’s destiny.

Every morning

she leaves home with determination, and every afternoon she rushes back before her children return

from school so she can prepare meals and look after their needs.

Another inspiring mother, Saniya Bibi, also spends her days working in homes to support her two daughters

and one son. Her dream is simple yet powerful: she wants her children to receive a good education and

live a dignified life. Like many mothers of South Punjab, she measures her success not by wealth, but

by the future she can build for her children.

These women do not not wear uniforms or sit in offices, but they are builders of futures. Their hands

may be rough from endless work, yet those same hands are shaping doctors, teachers, officers and

responsible citizens.

On Mother’s Day, these hardworking women deserve more than praise, they deserve recognition,

respect and honour. They are proof that motherhood is not only about love and sacrifice, but also

about courage, resilience and an unbreakable belief in one’s children.

In the silent streets of South Punjab, these mothers continue their struggle every day. And in doing so,

they stand among the finest mothers in the world.
