More than 200 passengers rescued in Lower Chitral timely operation

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th Jul, 2026) Rescue 1122 in Lower Chitral safely evacuated more than 200 passengers after flash floods triggered by heavy monsoon rains blocked the Drosh–Ashiret Road at several locations with debris and mudslides, leaving numerous vehicles stranded.

According to Rescue 1122 on Wednesday, under the supervision of the District Emergency Officer, Rescue 1122 launched an immediate response operation.

First responders stationed at the Sheshi Koh and Bregnesar watch points initiated rescue efforts, while additional teams from the district headquarters were dispatched to the affected areas.

Rescue teams continued relief activities for six hours in Kalkatak, Kaldam Gol, Soir and Ashiret.

Four stranded passenger vehicles were moved to safe locations and all travelers were assisted to safety.

The operation involved 20 Rescue 1122 personnel, three ambulances and a disaster response vehicle.

Authorities maintained close coordination with the National Highway Authority and the district administration to restore the road and ensure public safety.

According to Rescue 1122, no casualties or injuries were reported in the situation.
