MNS UET plans Multan Technology Park to strengthen innovation and industry links in south Punjab

MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th May, 2026) Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Engineering and Technology (MNS UET), Multan, is planning to establish a “Multan Technology Park” aimed at promoting innovation, research, and stronger industry collaboration in South Punjab.

In an interview with APP, Vice Chancellor Dr. Engr. Tausif Aized said consultations with international experts are underway for the proposed technology park so that global expertise can be utilized in addressing complex technological, civic, and industrial challenges.

He said the initiative is part of the university’s broader strategy to modernize the institution and position it among Pakistan’s leading higher education institutions.

Dr. Aized noted that the university is also strengthening academic linkages with professors and researchers from Italy, China, and Germany to update curricula in line with international standards and improve the quality of research and teaching.

He said MNS UET is focusing on research, innovation, and entrepreneurship, adding that work is also in progress on establishing a school of business and Entrepreneurship to enhance student opportunities for research and employment.

According to the Vice Chancellor, six new academic programs, including MS Computer Applications and Artificial Intelligence, will soon be launched. He added that steps are also being taken to strengthen university-industry linkages through coordination with the Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry to create better internship and job opportunities for students.

Dr. Aized further informed that four development project proposals have been prepared and submitted to the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and other relevant institutions for approval. Future plans also include establishing new laboratories, integrating advanced technologies, and expanding collaboration with international institutions.

He said the university plans to increase student enrollment from 1,600 to 3,000 in the next academic session. The administration is also upgrading classrooms into smart classrooms and expanding online education and professional training programs.

He added that the new campus is nearing operational readiness after completion of the administrative block, with semester classes expected to begin there in September this year.
