MMHPPs to generate economical electricity, says Secretary Energy

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Apr, 2026) Secretary Energy and Power Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nisar Ahmad has said that mini-micro hydropower projects (MMHPPs) have been constructed to generate economical electricity to the people of the province.

He expressed these views during an emergency visit to the project sites regarding the slow progress of construction work and suspension of work at some places in the ongoing projects of mini micro-hydel stations under the supervision of the PEDO in Upper Dir district.

He said that thousands of families are benefiting from these projects and directed for the completion of the ongoing energy projects within the stipulated time frame.

He was accompanied by Project Director Mini Micro-hydel Projects Faisal Dawar, Assistant Director monitoring Obaid ullah Khan and other officials.

Meanwhile, Secretary Nisar visited the sites of mini micro-hydropower projects under construction, including 75 kW in Doog Payeen, 250 kW in Siabadarkani, 150 kW in Mianz Doog, 200 kW in Kalkot, 500 kW in Sheringal, 250 kW in Tapandy, 250 kW in Thal Malo, 150 kW in Babozoo and 100 kW in Maina Doog. Where he inspected the powerhouse, penstock, switchyard and other parts.

He also met with the local community members at these places and listened to their problems carefully. He issued stern warning to the concerned Project Director and other staff members of his team that the ongoing work on these projects should be completed immediately to provide immediate relief to the people during the summer season.

He assured the local communities that with the provision of funds, all the remaining projects would be completed as soon as possible.
