Mirpurkhas administration finalizes comprehensive security and civic plan for Muharram

MIRPURKHAS, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Jun, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Nawab Sameer Hussain Laghari on Wednesday chaired a high-level meeting in the Commissioner Committee Hall to review the law and order situation and finalize arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram, directing all departments to work in close coordination to ensure peaceful and secure observance of the holy month across the district.

The meeting was attended by SSP Syed Fida Hussain Shah, Town Chairmen Mir Sher Muhammad Khan Talpur and Wali Muhammad Narejo, Additional Deputy Commissioner-II Faisal Soomro, members of the District Peace Committee, religious scholars from various schools of thought, organizers of Imambargahs, and officers of relevant departments. Participants were briefed on security, civic, and administrative preparations for Muharram processions and religious gatherings.

Addressing the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the need for foolproof security arrangements, cleanliness of procession routes, uninterrupted street lighting, provision of clean drinking water, medical facilities, and emergency preparedness. He directed authorities to conduct advance inspections of all procession and gathering routes and immediately address any shortcomings.

He also announced that Assistant Commissioners at the taluka level would serve as focal persons, while dedicated control rooms would be established to ensure the prompt resolution of public issues and operational challenges.

SSP Syed Fida Hussain Shah informed the participants that a comprehensive security and contingency plan had been devised for the protection of all Muharram processions and gatherings, urging organizers to strictly adhere to approved schedules and timings. Representatives of HESCO assured uninterrupted electricity supply during religious events, while officials from Public Health Engineering, Municipal Committees, and Local Government departments pledged effective arrangements for sanitation, drainage, and water supply.

The Deputy Commissioner reaffirmed that the district administration, police, Rangers, and all relevant institutions would perform their duties in complete coordination to maintain peace and provide maximum facilities to the public throughout Muharram. Earlier, departmental officers presented detailed briefings on their preparedness, while organizers highlighted various concerns and challenges, which the administration assured would be addressed on priority.
