Minister Salman reviews arrangements for provision of health facilities in specialized hospitals during Eidul Adha

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th May, 2026) Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique on Monday chaired an important meeting to review arrangements for the provision of medical facilities in specialized hospitals during Eid-ul-Adha.

Punjab Health Secretary Azmat Mahmood attended the meeting via video link, while Additional Secretary Admin Khadijat-ul-Kubra, Dr. Ali Razaq and Additional Secretary Technical Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Waseem were also present. Medical superintendents (MSs) of all specialized hospitals participated in the meeting.

The MSs briefed the meeting on duty rosters of medical, nursing, paramedical and support staff, as well as medical officers assigned for Eid duties. Hospitals have issued special duty rosters for emergency wards, indoor departments, operation theatres and pharmacies to ensure uninterrupted healthcare services during the holidays.

The meeting directed hospitals to strictly implement infection control SOPs and ensure adequate stocks of medicines, IV fluids, vaccines, surgical and non-surgical disposables, medical gases and other essential supplies.

Hospitals were also instructed to maintain sufficient blood bags of all groups along with updated donor lists, while additional beds should be arranged in case of emergencies.

Authorities were directed to ensure uninterrupted generator backup and water supply in all hospitals.

The meeting further ordered hospitals to keep biomedical equipment, including X-ray, ultrasound, CT scan and MRI machines, fully functional. Operation theatres and ambulances were also directed to remain operational, with hospitals maintaining close coordination with Rescue 1122 for patient transportation.

Speaking on the occasion, Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique said instructions had been issued to provide the best possible medical facilities to patients visiting hospitals during Eid-ul-Adha. He said all MSs had been strictly directed to implement the government’s instructions, adding that violations of infection control SOPs would not be tolerated.

Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical education Azmat Mahmood said no negligence in patient care would be tolerated during Eid holidays. He added that conditions in hospitals were gradually improving and there would be no compromise on implementation of infection control SOPs.
