RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Feb, 2026) Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi on Thursday directed the authorities concerned to expedite cleanliness and development work at Commercial Market ahead of Eid shopping during a visit with a traders’ delegation.

The delegation, led by Central Anjuman Tajran Commercial Market patron-in-chief Raja Asad Hameed, briefed the minister on ongoing development work, poor sanitation conditions, and difficulties faced by traders and shoppers due to piles of dirt and debris, particularly with the expected rush before Eid-ul-Fitr.

Raja Asad Hameed said inadequate cleanliness arrangements were causing severe problems for shopkeepers and customers and affecting smooth movement in the shopping centre.

On the occasion, the minister summoned officials of the relevant departments on the spot and ordered immediate cleanliness measures, directing that piles of soil and waste in front of shops be removed without delay.

He also reviewed facilities and security arrangements for shoppers, terming them satisfactory.

Hanif Abbasi further instructed that the market be beautified in view of Eid and that immediate steps be taken to improve pedestrian access and convenience.

Later, the traders’ delegation, again led by Raja Asad Hameed, met the minister at Al-Hameed Haveli. The delegation included trader leaders Raja Waqas Ali Pasha, Iftikhar Afi, Habib Kiani, Arifeen Abbasi, and Raja Umar Advocate.

They thanked the minister for issuing prompt directives and taking steps to resolve their issues, expressing satisfaction over the arrangements.
