Minister expresses satisfaction over start of delivery of heavy machinery required for PDP

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th May, 2026) Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafique has expressed satisfaction over the start of delivery of heavy machinery required for Punjab Development Program (PDP) stressing that the timeline set by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif should be taken care of at every stage.

While presiding over a meeting regarding the PDP, he said that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered the completion of necessary work in the concerned cities before the rainy season. “Inshallah, the arrival of heavy machinery will help a lot in dealing with urban flooding”, he hoped. During the review meeting, Project Director Shahid Zaman Luk and the concerned Assistant Project Directors briefed the provincial minister.

Minister Zeeshan Rafique said that 15 suction units of the Japanese company have been received while 23 units will be received on May 25.

“Similarly, he went on, eight suction units will be delivered on June 15 and 45 jetting units on June 20”.

The minister said that in the first phase, PDP has received 20 out of 77 de-silting machines, while another 25 machines are expected on May 23. “The remaining 32 de-silting units will be delivered on June 5”, he observed. He said that 50 de-watering units will be received on May 30 and another 50 units on June 20. Zeeshan Rafique said that work is going on in two shifts where necessary. He directed that every possible effort should be made to complete the PDP schemes on time. “Eid-ul-Adha is coming. Work should resume immediately after the Eid holidays”, he directed. He said that more funds will be allocated for PDP in the next financial year’s budget.
