Minister directs SFA to intensify inspection activities in Sindh

KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th May, 2026) Sindh Food Minister Makhdum Mehboob uz Zaman has directed the Sindh Food Authority to further intensify inspection activities across the province on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha to ensure effective arrangements based on food safety, cleanliness and basic hygiene principles. He said that the provision of safe, quality and healthy food to citizens must be ensured under all circumstances, while all relevant officers and teams should remain fully active for immediate redressal of public complaints related to food during Eid days.

The provincial minister instructed Food Safety Officers, focal persons and special task teams of the Sindh Food Authority to strictly monitor the preparation and sale points of hotels, bakeries, milk, spices and other food items so that the supply of clean and safe food to citizens could be guaranteed.

He stated that there would be no compromise on cleanliness, hygiene and food safety principles during Eid, and strict action would be taken against those involved in selling substandard and harmful food items.

Addressing the public, Makhdum Mehboob uz Zaman urged citizens to fully cooperate with municipal administration in the proper and safe disposal of sacrificial waste, blood and other remains after Eid-ul-Azha to avoid bad smell, environmental pollution or health hazards. He said that waste and offal can lead to the spread of germs, flies and mosquitoes which may cause serious diseases as they transmit bacteria to food.

He further stated that the Sindh Food Authority staff will remain fully available during the holidays and citizens can register food-related complaints on helpline number 02199336112. The minister said that public facilitation, quick response and provision of safe food are the top priorities of the Sindh government and all available resources are being utilized for this purpose.
