BAHAWALPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Feb, 2026) On the directives of the Federal Ombudsman Secretariat in Bahawalpur, a number of consumers of the Multan Electric Company (MEPCO) have been provided relief of over Rs 0.8 million.
According to official press release issued here, Commissioner IRD Shaukat Mahmood conducted hearings on citizens’ complaints related to MEPCO Division City Bahawalpur.
During the proceedings, more than 30 cases were taken up, concerning excessive electricity bills, meters, and other related issues. “After a detailed review, immediate orders were issued in several cases, resulting in relief amounting to over 800,000 rupees for the affected consumers,” it said.
It further said that additionally, instructions were given for the replacement of one electricity pole and two meters to ensure a permanent and effective resolution of the citizens’ problems.
Commissioner IRD Shaukat Mahmood directed the concerned officials that no delay or negligence in addressing public complaints would be tolerated, and that all matters must be resolved promptly in accordance with the law and on merit.
