She revealed that due to her activism, she was removed from the Hollywood film Scream 7, and her talent agency WME also ended its association with her.

The actress said her pro-Palestinian posts were criticised by some groups as “anti-Semitic” and she faced accusations of promoting hate speech. However, Barrera rejected these claims, stating that her position is based on humanity, peace, freedom, and the rights of oppressed people.
