Mega store sealed over inactive DC counter

SIALKOT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Mar, 2026) On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Sialkot Saba Asghar Ali, the district administration continued its crackdown against profiteers and sealed two shops, including a mega store, during operations carried out in the district.

According to a DC Office spokesperson, a mega store located at Choburji Chowk on Daska Road was sealed for keeping the DC counter non-functional and not displaying the official price list. Acting on a complaint received at the DC Control Room 1718, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Naeem Bashir, along with Assistant Commissioner Sialkot Safdar Shabbir, conducted a raid at the store, inspected different sections and checked the prices of food items.

The officials also inspected various shops on Daska Road and imposed a collective fine of Rs50,000 on violators.

Meanwhile, during 1,932 inspections conducted across the district in a single day, 37 profiteers were fined a total of Rs181,000. Two profiteers were arrested and one FIR was also registered during the crackdown, the spokesperson added.
