Meeting reviews aspects of optimal, efficient use of mineral resources

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th Jul, 2026) A meeting of the Mines and Mineral Department was held here under the chairmanship of Arif Ahmadzai, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Mines and Mineral Development on Wednesday.

The meeting deliberated on various strategic measures to ensure the effective utilization of the province’s mineral resources and to boost revenue generation.

The Secretary of the Mines and Minerals Department, Dr. Muhammad Israr, along with other high-ranking officials, attended the meeting.

During the session, the provincial minister was given a detailed briefing on the department's current performance and the potential avenues for increasing revenue.

The participants reviewed various aspects of the optimal and efficient use of the province's mineral resources, keeping the public interest at the forefront.

A detailed discussion was also held regarding the overall role, utility, and active participation of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mineral Development and Management Company in enhancing provincial income through better resource management.

Speaking on the occasion, Provincial Minister Arif Ahmadzai stated that minerals are a vital asset of the province and their transparent and efficient utilization is among the government’s top priorities.

He emphasized the need to make the company's role and future roadmap more distinct and comprehensive. It was agreed to convene another meeting shortly to further clarify the role and detailed plan of the KP MDMC.

It was decided that a comprehensive presentation would be delivered in the next meeting, based on which recommendations for proper implementation and future action would be prepared.

These recommendations will subsequently be submitted to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the provincial government for final approval and next steps.
