PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th May, 2026) Commissioner Peshawar Division Riaz Khan Mehsud here on Friday chaired a meeting to review arrangements for the dignified return of Afghan refugees and to accelerate the repatriation process in a more organized and efficient manner.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from key departments including Director FIA Peshawar, Director General NADRA Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Collector Customs Peshawar, G-1 Frontier Corps North, Deputy Commissioner Khyber and other concerned authorities.
During the meeting, participants conducted a detailed review of the ongoing repatriation process of Afghan refugees and made important decisions to further enhance coordination among all relevant institutions. It was agreed that all departments would work under a unified and coordinated strategy to ensure the provision of the best possible facilities to returning Afghan refugees so that the repatriation process is completed in accordance with the principles of humanitarian care, dignity and convenience.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Commissioner directed authorities to speed up arrangements for clearing and facilitating Afghans. He also instructed that vehicle movement toward Khyber tribal district should be ensured daily according to available capacity to reduce long traffic queues, minimize congestion and spare returning refugees from prolonged waiting.
The meeting also emphasized reducing unnecessary checking procedures and eliminating avoidable obstacles that could delay or complicate the repatriation process.
Commissioner directed all concerned departments to provide humanitarian assistance to returning refugees including shade, drinking water, medical aid and other essential services to reduce their difficulties and make the return process smoother and more comfortable.
