Meeting regarding UCs demarcation held

SARGODHA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Mar, 2026) A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Hussain Ahmed Raza Chaudhry

regarding the demarcation of union councils.

Deputy Director Local Government Babar Shahzad Ranjha, while giving a briefing in the meeting, said that in view of the population and administrative needs of the district, new demarcation of union councils is being done so that the provision of basic facilities to people can be made more effective.

It was informed in the briefing that a total of 236 union councils are proposed to be established in Sargodha district. Under the new administrative arrangement, 10 Municipal Committees (MCs), 7 Tehsil Councils and 2 Town Municipal Corporations will be established in the district while Sargodha city will have 2 Town Municipal Corporations.

Along with this, the system is being further strengthened at the tehsil level by abolishing the previous district council structure.

The meeting was attended by District Election Commissioner Chaudhry Muhammad Arshad, all Chief Officers Local Government, Assistant Directors Local Government, concerned officers, Tehsildars and other officials.

The deputy commissioner directed that the delimitation process of Union Councils should be completed with merit, transparency and speed. He said that all departments should maintain close contact with each other and discharge their responsibilities on time so that there is no delay. He clarified that the new delimitation will improve administrative matters, enable fair distribution of resources, and provide better facilities to the people at the local government level.
