Meeting on road safety, traffic accident prevention held

BAHAWALPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Mar, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Syed Hassan Raza chaired a meeting of the Regional Transport Authority

and the Road Safety and Accident Review Committee to review measures aimed at preventing

traffic accidents, promoting road safety and improving transport system across the district.

During the meeting, District Emergency Officer Baqir Hussain of Rescue 1122 gave a detailed

briefing on traffic accidents reported in Bahawalpur district, their causes, rescue operations and emergency response measures. He informed the participants that the major causes of traffic accidents included over-speeding, violation of traffic rules, overloading and untrained drivers.

The meeting was also informed that Rescue 1122 teams were providing immediate emergency response and timely medical assistance to injured persons in case of accidents.

Addressing the meeting, Hassan Raza said the protection of citizens’ lives was a top priority of the district administration and directed all relevant departments to adopt a coordinated strategy to prevent traffic

accidents.

He instructed officials to ensure strict enforcement of traffic laws, identify hazardous locations and take necessary safety measures there, and launch public awareness campaigns regarding road safety.
