ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Mar, 2026) Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry informed National Assembly that the government has increased the financial assistance for medical treatment under Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal from Rs 1 million to Rs1.5 million, aiming to provide greater relief to patients suffering from life-threatening and chronic diseases.
Responding to questions in the House, the minister said that deserving patients receive medical support through Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal, which provides financial assistance particularly to those battling serious and long-term illnesses.
He explained that the assistance limit for eligible patients was previously capped at Rs 1 million, but the government has now enhanced the amount to Rs1.5 million to better support individuals facing expensive medical treatments.
According to the minister, individuals with a monthly income of up to Rs75,000 are eligible to apply for assistance under the program. Beneficiaries may also receive support for both medical and educational expenses, he added.
He noted that complaints about medicines or treatment sometimes arise due to issues with medical stores or service providers responsible for supplying drugs or medical services, rather than the financial assistance program itself.
Earlier, responding to another question, the minister said the mechanism used by the relevant department is transparent and open to public scrutiny.
The minister emphasized that no allegations of irregularities or misconduct have been reported in the department so far.
