Market-driven skills training held for women in Sialkot

SIALKOT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Feb, 2026) Officials from Baidarie and the Social Welfare Department on Sunday collaborated to strengthen coordination to expand market-oriented skills training opportunities for women and girls in Sialkot, aiming to boost economic participation and sustainable livelihoods in the district.

Hina Noureen, Vice President of Baidarie, and Asif Raza, Project Manager, met Muhammad Sharif Ghumman, Deputy Director of the Social Welfare Department and Bait-ul-Maal Sialkot, and Ibrar Abdullah Sahi, Social Welfare Officer, at the Social Welfare Complex Sialkot. The meeting centered on enhancing collaboration to improve access to relevant, demand-driven training programs.

Participants discussed practical strategies to improve linkages between training providers and government departments to ensure wider outreach and measurable impact.

Emphasis was placed on streamlining coordination mechanisms and expanding opportunities for women and girls to gain skills aligned with market needs.

The initiative is part of the project titled “Catalyzing Growth for Women Economic Empowerment in District Sialkot, Punjab,” supported by UN Women Pakistan. The project seeks to strengthen women’s economic participation by equipping them with relevant technical and vocational skills while facilitating pathways to sustainable livelihood opportunities.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continued collaboration, underscoring the importance of inclusive development and joint efforts to create sustainable economic pathways for women across Sialkot district.
