Man shot dead, mother critically injured in Hassan Abdal firing incident

ATTOCK, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Mar, 2026) A young man was shot dead while his mother sustained critical injuries after unidentified assailants opened fire on them near the Sabira Abad locality on Monday, police sources said.

According to police, the victims were traveling on a motorcycle when armed attackers intercepted them near the Sabira Abad area and opened indiscriminate fire. As a result, the son died on the spot while his mother was seriously wounded in the attack.

Hospital officials at Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Hassan Abdal said the deceased was identified as Imran, son of Abdul Zaman.

The injured woman suffered two bullet wounds to her leg and back and was shifted to the hospital for emergency treatment, where her condition was reported to be critical.

The assailants fled the scene immediately after the shooting. Police from Hassan Abdal reached the site soon after the incident, collected evidence, and launched an investigation. Officials said preliminary findings suggest the attack may have stemmed from an old enmity, while efforts are underway to trace and arrest the suspects.
