Man sentenced to death, ordered to pay Rs 0.5m compensation

BUREWALA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Apr, 2026) A local court awarded death sentence to a man and acquitted three co-accused giving them the benefit of doubt while deciding a murder case here Wednesday.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Zafarullah Niazi pronounced the verdict in a two-year-old murder case that occurred in village 158/EB, finding the main accused, Riaz alias Booti, guilty of killing Ghulam Fareed Wahga, and awarded capital punishment to him.

The convict was also directed to pay Rs 500,000 as compensation to the legal heirs of the deceased.

According to advocate Mirza Zahid Mahmood who represented the prosecution, the accused Riaz alias Booti, Riaz Kharal, Ghulam Fareed and Ashraf had allegedly shot dead the victim over an old enmity. Sadar police had registered a case and submitted the Challan before the court after completing investigation.

After completion of trial, the court awarded death penalty to Riaz alias Booti, while acquitting the co-accused Riaz Kharal, Ghulam Fareed and Ashraf, giving them the benefit of doubt.
