CHISHTIAN:
A man has been arrested for allegedly murdering his wife, burying her inside their home and alleging her abduction in Basti Ashiq Muhammad. Police recovered the body of Nusrat, mother of four, from the house 13 months after her disappearance and arrested her husband, Muhammad Munir. According to the police, Munir had reported his wife missing in June last year and lodged an abduction case, claiming that she had disappeared from their home. The victim's mother, Rahmat Bibi, told investigators that she had been married to Munir for about 25 years. The couple had three sons and a daughter. She said Munir had informed the family on June 24, 2025, that Nusrat Bibi had gone missing. When relatives visited the house, they asked to view footage of CCTV installed at the house. However, Munir allegedly refused, claiming that the cameras had been switched off two days earlier. The family became suspicious as several people had been sleeping in the house that night, making it unlikely that the victim could have left unnoticed. Despite their concerns, Munir lodged an FIR alleging that his wife had been abducted. The victim's family continued searching for her. On Monday, two men, Zahoor Ahmad and Muhammad Yasin, reportedly informed the family that Munir had confessed to them that he had killed his wife about a year earlier. He allegedly admitted that he, along with accomplices, had buried the body in a pit beside a wall in his home and covered it.
