Man and granddaughter killed as roadside tree falls on them in Upper Dir

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Jun, 2026) An aged man and his three-year-old granddaughter were killed when a heavy tree, uprooted by strong winds. fell on them in the Lamoti area of Upper Dir district, police informed on Wednesday.

Police said Aqal Zareen was walking along a road with his young granddaughter when a tree suddenly collapsed on them during high winds.

The incident happened so quickly that both victims suffered critical injuries and died shortly afterward.

Following the accident, residents immediately launched rescue efforts and shifted the bodies to a nearby hospital.

The heartbreaking tragedy has left the area in mourning. Residents have urged the local administration to identify and remove dangerous roadside trees and implement safety measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
