Mainly hot, dry weather to persist across country; rain likely in Kashmir

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th May, 2026) The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast mainly hot and dry weather across most parts of the country on Wednesday, with very hot conditions expected in southern regions.

While there are chances of isolated rain-wind/thunderstorm in Kashmir and adjoining areas.

According to the forecast, Islamabad and its surroundings are expected to remain hot and dry.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper districts will experience hot and dry weather, while southern districts are likely to remain very hot.

In Punjab, mainly hot and dry conditions will prevail across most districts, whereas southern parts may face very hot weather accompanied by dust-raising and gusty winds. Sindh is expected to remain very hot and dry in most districts.

Similarly, Balochistan will witness hot and dry weather in most areas, with very hot conditions in southern districts.

In Kashmir, partly cloudy weather is expected with chances of isolated rain-wind/thunderstorm during the afternoon, while Gilgit-Baltistan will remain partly cloudy and dry.

During the past 24 hours, weather remained hot and dry in most parts of the country, with very hot conditions in southern districts.

However, rain-wind/thunderstorm occurred at isolated places in upper and central Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

The significant rainfall recorded (in mm) included: Okara 25mm, Sargodha City 18, Faisalabad 15, Chakwal and Toba Tek Singh 09, Sheikhupura 08, Jhang 05, Lahore (City 04, Airport 02), Sahiwal 04, Joharabad 03, Bahawalnagar 02, Mandi Bahauddin and Hafizabad 01mm.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Malam Jabba recorded 17 mm, while Astore in Gilgit-Baltistan received 01 mm rainfall.

The highest maximum temperatures recorded were Turbat 45C, Lasbella and Mithi 44C, Chhor 43C, and Mirpur Khas 42C.
