LORALAI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th May, 2026) A newly established Loralai Children’s Hospital has started providing free, high-quality medical treatment to newborns and children up to 15 years of age, aiming to reduce the province’s alarming infant mortality rate, currently estimated at 70 deaths per 1,000 live births.
Dr. Kamran Khan Head of the Hospital, speaking at the hospital’s inauguration, highlighted the scale of the crisis: “Around 400,000 children die every year in Pakistan, and nearly half of these deaths are caused by preventable illnesses such as diarrhea and pneumonia. We are determined to defeat these diseases and save lives.”
The initiative is part of a broader health reform agenda launched by the provincial Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar, mark a decisive step toward modernizing medical services and improving public welfare.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>As part of this program, children’s emergency facilities have already been set up in Quetta and Loralai, with plans to expand services to Khuzdar, Dera Murad Jamali, Turbat, Sibi, and Zhob districts.
The hospital operates in partnership with the ChildLife Foundation, ensuring modern healthcare facilities and strict infection-control policies. Staff members have received specialized training in Quetta to serve underprivileged communities, with a strong emphasis on cleanliness and patient safety.
Dr. Kamran Khan confirmed that all services from consultations to medicines will be provided free of cost to children who arrive at the hospital. The project represents a significant step toward addressing healthcare disparities in Balochistan and reducing preventable child deaths across the province.
