Livestock distribution initiative empowers rural women in Khanewal, Jahanian

KHANEWAL, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Feb, 2026) In line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to promote self-reliance among vulnerable women, the Livestock Department distributed animals to 190 widowed, divorced, and deserving rural women in Khanewal district.

According to official details, the livestock were allocated through a transparent balloting process, benefiting 68 women from Jahanian and 122 from Khanewal. The distribution ceremony was held at a local marriage hall, where elected representatives and district officials handed over the animals to the beneficiaries.

Member of the National Assembly Muhammad Khan Daha, Member of the Provincial Assembly Asghar Hayat Hiraj, and Deputy Commissioner Maliha Rashid attended the ceremony as chief guests. Assistant commissioners, livestock department officers, and other officials were also present.

Speaking on the occasion, MNA Muhammad Khan Daha said that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif is committed to improving the welfare of the middle and lower-income segments of society.

He noted that various welfare initiatives are underway across sectors, and the free provision of cows and buffaloes will help deserving women achieve sustainable income and financial stability.

MPA Asghar Hayat Hiraj described the asset transfer program as a valuable gift for widowed, divorced, and underprivileged women. He emphasized that providing livestock will secure the economic future of rural women and enable them to earn a dignified livelihood.

Deputy Commissioner Maliha Rashid termed the initiative a practical step toward women’s empowerment. She highlighted that the fair and transparent distribution of livestock among deserving rural women is ongoing and aligns with the Chief Minister’s vision of rural prosperity and farmers’ welfare.

Officials expressed confidence that the program will significantly improve household incomes and strengthen economic independence among rural women across the district.
