SIALKOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th May, 2026) Under the special directives of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, formal and non-formal literacy centers have been inaugurated at District Jail Sialkot to provide educational and vocational opportunities for inmates.

The inauguration ceremony was conducted by Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) and Parliamentary Secretary for Parliamentary Affairs Naveed Ashraf along with District Education Officer (Literacy) Asifa Yasir. Superintendent Jail Kashif Rasool was also present on the occasion.

Addressing the ceremony, Naveed Ashraf said that the learning centers aim to equip prisoners with basic education and vocational training so they can become productive and responsible citizens after their release.

He said that the centers will effectively provide non-formal schooling and learning opportunities according to the needs of inmates.

The Parliamentary Secretary appreciated the efforts of the jail administration and said that under the leadership of Superintendent Jail Kashif Rasool, significant measures have been taken to ensure better arrangements, discipline, and welfare facilities for prisoners.

He further added that under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, special attention is being given to the rehabilitation and education of prisoners across Punjab.

The jail administration reaffirmed its commitment to making these learning centers successful and expanding educational and professional training programs for inmates in the future.
