Libraries on Wheels project to be launced in Lahore govt. schools

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Jun, 2026) It has been decided to launch the "libraries on Wheels" project in Lahore government schools.

The modern mobile library project will be completed at a cost of Rs 198 million. Under the project, 85 electric vehicles will be purchased while 20 modern tablets will be installed in each mobile library.

For the convenience of students, each vehicle will also have a large LED screen in the project. The mobile library will visit one school daily. Each vehicle will provide educational services in schools under a fixed schedule.

Electric vehicles will be charged daily from the designated charging station in the school, the project will provide library and digital learning facilities to the students of every school.

The District Education Authority said that the project will promote the trend of book reading among the students, the mobile library project will play an important role in improving the quality of education.

According to CEO Tariq Mahmood, students will be provided with access to modern educational resources through digital technology and digital educational materials along with books.
