LHC disposes of plea on stray dog attacks after reviewing policy implementation

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Apr, 2026) The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday disposed of a petition concerning rising stray dog attacks and the protection of children, after reviewing a report on the implementation of the Animal Birth Control Policy 2021.

Justice Hassan Nawaz Makhdoom heard the case. Petitioner Majeed Ghori, along with counsel appeared before the court.

Representing the Punjab government, Additional Advocate General Chaudhry Jawad Yaqoob submitted a report on the implementation of the policy and apprised the court of steps taken to address the issue.

After examining the implementation report, the court disposed of the petition.

The petitioner had argued that effective and practical measures were needed to curb stray dog attacks and ensure the safety of citizens, particularly children. The court was also requested to direct authorities to provide adequate compensation to the family of a minor girl who was killed in a stray dog attack in the Township area.
