LGH treats over 754,000 patients in four months

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th May, 2026) Lahore General Hospital (LGH) provided modern and quality healthcare facilities to 754,350 patients during the first four months of the current year under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s “Health for All” programme.

According to a performance report presented by Medical Superintendent LGH Prof. Dr. Faryad Hussain to Principal Ameer-ud-Din Medical College Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal on Thursday, the hospital witnessed a huge influx of patients in both the Emergency and Outdoor departments from January to April.

The report stated that 365,091 patients in the Emergency Department were provided free medicines, diagnostic tests, CT scans and surgical treatment during the period, while 35,396 successful surgeries of different categories were carried out.

Principal Ameer-ud-Din Medical College Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal said that under the guidance of Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique and Secretary Specialized Healthcare Azmat Mehmood Khan, the hospital administration was utilizing all available resources to ensure better patient care and welfare.

He said an effective monitoring and feedback system had been introduced at the hospital, which was producing positive results. He reaffirmed that Lahore General Hospital would continue to provide standardized healthcare services to people across Punjab in accordance with the chief minister’s vision of accessible healthcare for all.

MS LGH Prof. Dr. Faryad Hussain said administrative doctors had been assigned dedicated duties to maintain discipline, cleanliness, attendance of healthcare professionals and improved patient care in the hospital.

He added that during the four-month period, the hospital conducted around 800,000 laboratory tests, 106,410 X-rays, 43,728 ultrasounds, 24,090 CT scans, 6,639 MRI scans, 83 mammography procedures, 2,334 gastroscopies, over 30,000 ECGs and 6,174 dialysis procedures.

The report further stated that 1,423 patients from other districts were referred to Lahore General Hospital for specialized treatment facilities.
