LGH nursing students secure top positions in Punjab Nursing Board Examination

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Feb, 2026) Students of the Nursing College at Lahore General Hospital (LGH) have achieved an outstanding distinction by securing first and second positions in the annual examination of the Punjab Nursing board for the one-year Basic Diploma in Neurosciences Nursing.

According to the officially announced results on Sunday, Charge Nurse Dua Akhtar clinched first position, while Charge Nurse Kishwar Siddique secured second position, bringing pride to LGH. The third position was secured by Charge Nurse Samaira Abdul Majeed from the Post Graduate College of Nursing, Lahore.

Expressing his delight over this remarkable achievement, Principal Ameer-ud-Din Medical College, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Farooq Afzal, congratulated the position holders, nursing faculty members and college administration. He stated that this success reflects the students’ dedication, the faculty’s effective mentorship and the institution’s commitment to maintaining high academic standards.

Prof. Farooq Afzal noted that nursing education and training at LGH has been ongoing since 1962 and its graduates were serving with distinction not only across Pakistan but also internationally in clinical, academic and community healthcare settings.

He reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to further strengthening professional nursing education in line with modern scientific and clinical advancements.

Highlighting the importance of specialized training in nursing, he urged students to stay updated with emerging medical technologies, research developments and evolving patient care practices. He added that continuous professional development and clinical excellence are essential to ensure safe, compassionate and high-quality patient care.

The Principal AMC/LGH further stated that nurses were the backbone of any healthcare system. Their professional competence, ethical commitment and dedication to patient welfare play a pivotal role in strengthening healthcare delivery. He expressed confidence that the Nursing College students will continue to achieve excellence and uphold the prestige of the institution and the nation in the years ahead.
