LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Mar, 2026) Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) President Faheem-ur-Rehman Saigol said on Monday that Pakistan now urgently requires a well-tailored and carefully thought-out energy and economic policy to address emerging challenges.
He expressed these views while talking to reporters here at Qul Khuwani of Sheikh Muhammad Aslam, former Vice President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), who passed away two days ago. A large number of business community representatives attended the gathering and paid tribute to the late business leader for his services to trade and industry.
Saigol said that the country is currently facing extraordinary global circumstances due to ongoing war-related developments, creating economic pressures never witnessed before. He emphasized that such unprecedented conditions demand serious planning, policy continuity, and coordinated economic management to safeguard Pakistan’s economy.
He added that while targeted measures such as higher fuel prices for luxury vehicles reflect policy direction toward economic discipline, the government must now move toward a comprehensive and sustainable framework covering energy security, industrial growth, and economic stability.
On this occasion, Businessmen Panel (BMP) Chairman Mian Anjum Nisar said that the current global environment has created an extraordinary situation that the world has rarely experienced. He noted that Pakistan must adopt a highly comprehensive and forward-looking strategy to cope with evolving economic realities and protect national interests.
Participants of the prayer ceremony offered condolences and prayed for the departed soul of Sheikh Muhammad Aslam, acknowledging his valuable contributions to the business community and his longstanding services for the promotion of trade and industry in Pakistan.
