Lawyers demand withdrawal of biometric verification condition for litigants

Lawyers of Multan staged a sit-in outside the High Court Multan Bench on Wednesday to air their demand for withdrawal of biometric verification condition for litigants in courts

MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th May, 2026) Lawyers of Multan staged a sit-in outside the High Court Multan Bench on Wednesday to air their demand for withdrawal of biometric verification condition for litigants in courts.

A number of lawyers including former bar presidents joined the sit-in led by former president of the High Court Bar Multan, advocate Supreme Court Syed Riaz-ul-Hassan Gilani.

Lawyers argued that biometric verification was creating unnecessary hurdles for litigants and slowing down the process of justice.

Addressing the gathering, Syed Riaz-ul-Hassan Gilani said that additional procedural steps such as the GRC system and now biometric verification, for which Rs 200 fee is charged, were adding barriers instead of facilitating litigants.

He also demanded facilities like hearing of cases via video-link be also introduced effectively in courts in Punjab.

The bar leaders announced their peaceful sit-ins would continue till the time their demands are met.

The legal community urged the government and the judicial authorities to simplify the justice system to facilitate the litigants.
