HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Mar, 2026) A prestigious ceremony was held at the Laar Campus, Badin, of the University of Sindh under the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme, where Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Fatah Muhammad Mari distributed laptops among selected male and female students purely on merit.
According to the SU spokesperson, the deputy commissioner Badin Yasir Bhatti, Prof Dr Muhammad Tufail Chandio, Prof Kamran Taj Pathan, Prof Abdul Hakeem Nahriyo, Prof Sana Jamali, Prof Khalil ur Rehman, Prof Abdul Qadir Patoli along with a large number of faculty members and students attended the ceremony.
Addressing the gathering, the vice chancellor said that the distribution of laptops was carried out with complete transparency on the basis of merit and high CGPA. He said that the current era was one of artificial intelligence, digital learning and smart education, making it essential for students to stay aligned with modern technology.
He emphasized that without access to modern electronic devices and digital resources, students would not be able to compete at the global academic level.
The Vice Chancellor also thanked the Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and the government of Pakistan for the initiative, describing it as a significant step towards empowering youth and integrating them into the global digital economy.
He said that laptops were not merely devices for students but keys to a bright future, enabling access to online courses, research journals, digital libraries and international educational platforms.
Deputy Commissioner Badin Yasir Bhatti, in his remarks, said that the university was working on modern educational principles to provide intellectual and practical training to youth. He noted that in the era of digital revolution, instant access to information and effective use of technology had become basic to academic success, and the laptop scheme would play a key role in helping students to acquire quality and research-based education.
The Coordinator Laar Campus Prof Dr Muhammad Tufail Chandio said the scheme equips students with modern IT skills and provides them opportunities to actively participate in academic and research activities. Focal Person of the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme Prof Kamran Taj Pathan remarked that the initiative would boost students’ confidence, learning motivation and creative abilities, helping them achieve distinction in academic and professional fields.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the students who received laptops expressed their happiness and thanked the Federal government and the administration of the University for the initiative.
